About the tartan:

A handsome predominately blue and green with black, red and white fine stripes.

The MacKenzie tartan can be traditionally be worn by the MacKenzie Clan and its Septs - clans under the protection of the larger MacKenzie Clan. A regimental tartan of the Seaforth Highlanders, a military tartan linked with MacKenzie, Earl of Seaforth in 1778, developed from an earlier version of the Black Watch Tartan by the MacKenzie Lord MacLeod's 73rd Highland Regiment.

About the clan:
The MacKenzies were a powerful clan, of Celtic stock and believed to be descended from Gilleoin of the Aird alongside the Matheson Clan and the Anrias Clan from 1100s.

The Clan crest is a mountain in flames Proper with the moto Luceo non Uro (I shine not burn)

The name is derived from the Gaelic 'Mac Coinnich' translating as 'comely' or 'handsome'.

Ideal worn as part of a full kilt outfit for any formal occasion, like a wedding or a Burns supper, but also a great item dressed-down and worn with more casual clothing for a rugby or football game, Scottish parties or a weekend away.

Each kilt has pure cotton lining for maximum comfort when being worn and has a regular 24'' (61cm) drop. Three real leather straps give the kilt a handy wee bit of give or take within the sizes. So, for example, if you are a size 30"", it can be tightened up from a size 32"" to fit you perfectly and last a little longer.

We stock eight-yard tartan kilts to fit waist sizes from 30"" (76cm) to 48"" (122cm).
