Description

About the tartan:
Our Douglas tartan, from the Gaelic Dubhghlas translating as black grey, consists of a dark watery blue and green with a fine stripe of white in this attractive tartan.

About the clan:
The Douglas clan are an ancient family form the lowlands of Scotland in South Lanarkshire.
One of the most powerful and most prominent families in the area during the late middle ages, and very active with the Stewart kings.

The Douglas's are recorded in history from around 1170 in Scotland, and are related to the Murray clan.

A famous Douglas, William le Hardi's son James Douglas 'The Good Sir James' was almost esteemed companion in arms to the King Robert the Bruce. He was killed in battle and his embalmed heart was placed in the vaults of the kirk of St Bride.

About our Eight-yard Tartan Kilt:
Our men's Eight-yard Tartan Kilt is great value, available in five genuine Scottish tartans and is made from fine quality, heavy and durable poly-viscose.

Ideal worn as part of a full kilt outfit for any formal occasion, like a wedding or a Burns supper, but also a great item dressed-down and worn with more casual clothing for a rugby or football game, Scottish parties or a weekend away.

Each kilt has pure cotton lining for maximum comfort when being worn and has a regular 24'' (61cm) drop. Three real leather straps give the kilt a handy wee bit of give or take within the sizes. So, for example, if you are a size 30"", it can be tightened up from a size 32"" to fit you perfectly and last a little longer.

We stock eight-yard tartan kilts to fit waist sizes from 30"" (76cm) to 48"" (122cm).
